In “The Obscene Bird of Night”, a novel by the Chilean author José Donoso, the aristocrat-qua-politician Don Jeronimo builds an estate for his deformed son. For many years, he’d been infertile and, when luck finally struck, his wife gave birth to a monstrosity.

It didn’t suit his manly pride, as one of the finest specimens of his nation, to let his son live a life of shame. So, he builds La Rinconada, a remote estate turned into a palace, and populates it with all the monstrosities he can find all over South America — all the deformed, injured, lepers, and “obscene” people.

He leaves his son there, as the king of the estate, for two decades. When he finally returns, he finds, to his surprise, that he himself is the laughing stock and the abnormal one. They find his proper form too “out of the ordinary”.

But why am I telling you this?

Because it’s kind of an overly-dramatised, but mostly accurate, depiction of Antematter. Starting from the founders, whoever we hire has something excessive about them, particularly in the intellectual realm — some kind of curiosity that is out of the ordinary.

You would fit right into our team if, when you find something wild or interesting and try to discuss it with the people around you, they fail to see what's so exciting about it, or they just brush it off.

If that’s you, check out the open positions below. You should definitely be here — if you haven’t spent your whole life simply daydreaming. 💫

Our Values

Band of survivors mentality. We act as if we are stranded on a hostile island with a bunch of ragtag people and limited resources. The only way to survive is to work together and not get complacent. No room for politics or backbiting. We move fast and we move together.

Free market capitalism. We believe in a free market because the fundamental premise of a free market is value-exchange: to have something, you must give of equal or greater value. That philosophy guides all our actions at Antematter, from the way we deal with customers to the way we deal with teammates. Give more, and others will reciprocate.

Open callout. We believe in mutual accountability. Everyone in the team is responsible for keeping others accountable to their job. You are encouraged to callout anyone who is not putting in the effort, but you must do so at input-time, not at output-time when the damage is already done. Once the damage is done, then the whole team is responsible.

Personal responsibility. We believe it is part of the job to learn how to do the job better, not just to do the job. We don’t believe in having multiple middle-managers to monitor performance. Each team member is responsible for improving their own workflow on top of getting the job done.
